This article will describe the procedure for recordal of changes in the name and address of the proprietor of a trademark, which is regulated in Article 66, paragraph 1 of the Law on Marks and Geographical Indications. According to Article 66, paragraph 1 of the Law on Marks and Geographical Indications, the proprietor of a mark shall notify the Patent Office of any change in his name or address within one month after the change occurs. The change shall be recorded in the State Register at the request of the proprietor. All documents of which the proprietor is to be informed shall be sent to the most recent address recorded in the State Register.

The request for recordal of changes in the name and address of the proprietor of a trademark shall be filed at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria by the proprietor of the trademark or by an authorized industrial property representative.
The request for recordal of changes in the name and address of the proprietor of a trademark shall be submitted at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria in one of the following ways: directly in the Patent Office; by post; by fax; electronically; by e-mail.

In the event of deficiencies, the expert shall send a notice stating that the applicant will be given a 3-period to remedy the deficiencies. If the deficiencies are not remedied within the provided period, the proceedings shall be terminated. If no deficiencies have been identified or the deficiencies have been remedied in the provided period, the change in the name and address of the proprietor of the trademark shall be recorded in the State Register of Trademarks.
