WIPO IP Diagnostics is a free IP self-assessment tool designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises identify their IP assets and determine how to protect, manage, and leverage them to unlock new business opportunities.
The intellectual property diagnostic takes the form of a questionnaire divided into two levels. The first level, called “pre-assessment”, consists of ten basic questions concerning the enterprise, which aim to identify areas that are relevant to the business. In the second level assessment, the business has the opportunity to answer more detailed questions in some of the ten sections automatically generated on the basis of the answers to the pre-assessment, such as the ‘Trade marks’ section, the ‘Designs’ section, the ‘Confidential Information’ section, the ‘Novel or Innovative Products or Processes’ section and others.
After the completion of the pre-assessment questions, as well as each subsequent section of the second assessment, the system automatically generates a report that provides guidance and additional information on the intellectual property of the enterprise depending on the answers provided. The reports identify IP issues that may be relevant to the business and offer useful information on the management of these rights. They can be useful as a preliminary IP audit and provide a useful basis for setting the IP strategy for the business.
Access to the WIPO Diagnostic Tool is free on the WIPO website HERE.
