On 19.02.2026 at the Sofia Hotel Balkan, the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held a seminar dedicated to the role of intellectual property as a valuable resource for business development. The event was mainly aimed at startups and presented practical tools, initiatives and opportunities in their support.

Our team had the opportunity to attend the seminar, as it is essential for us to constantly upgrade our professional qualifications by participating in seminars, conferences, webinars and other events in the field of intellectual property. In this way, we follow current trends, innovations and good practices in the field in which we work.

Representatives of the startup ecosystem in Bulgaria, intellectual property specialists and lawyers participated in the seminar. Adapted versions of the Intellectual Property Diagnostic Tool and the Intellectual Property Guide for Startups were presented during the event. They are designed to help startups and small and medium-sized enterprises build an effective approach to protecting their intangible assets.

The WIPO IP Diagnostics tool is available on both mobile and desktop. It guides the user through a series of questions related to various aspects of their business, with the aim of identifying key areas where intellectual property is relevant. At the end of the process, a report is generated that can serve as the basis for developing an appropriate intellectual property management strategy for the specific company.
