During the Copyright Conference, held by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), on 20.11.2025, the EUIPO Copyright Knowledge Centre was officially opened – a place to access clear and reliable information for anyone involved in the creation or use of creative works. The centre will provide the latest information on how to protect copyright across the European Union.
The EUIPO has long been actively working in the field of copyright by raising awareness, creating tools such as portals for Orphan Works Database. With the establishment of the Copyright Knowledge Centre, EUIPO will build on this work, as the establishment of the centre is a key priority of the EUIPO Strategic Plan 2030 and marks the beginning of a long-term effort to strengthen engagement with stakeholders. EUIPO will work closely with creators, innovators and experts to foster collaboration and explore new initiatives, such as the development of CopyrightView, a service to improve access to copyright status information in Europe.
🔹 What the Centre offers:
- Access to training materials, research, current practices, and information on copyright infringements in the EU;
- An interactive map providing information on legislation, responsible authorities, and licensing schemes across all member states;
- Guidance and resources in the context of the growing influence of technologies like generative AI.
In a world where digitalization and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing the way content is created and shared, transparency, access to information, and rights protection are more important than ever. The EUIPO Copyright Knowledge Centre has the potential to unite efforts, facilitate access to knowledge, and support fair protection and remuneration for creators.
