The novel about one of the most recognizable characters of the children’s literary world, namely the story of “Winnie the Pooh”, is no longer subject to copyright protection. Under U.S. law, literary works have enjoyed copyright protection for 95 years since their first publication – a period that expired for the children’s book beginning in 2022.
This means that Alan A. Milne’s book is public domain book – a household name for all copyrighted works that can be used freely without restrictions.
It is important to note that the expired copyright is only for the book “Winnie the Pooh” – the Disney film of the same name from 2011 is subject to another copyright, which is still in force.
