WIPO’s Accessible Books Consortium (ABC) has launched a new application (ABC Global Book Service) that makes digital books available for direct download by people who are blind or visually impaired people.
The application is available at www.abcglobalbooks.org and is completely free of charge, and users with visual impairments residing in Canada, France, and Switzerland will be able to search directly in the application and download accessible digital books immediately. The original catalog offered through the new application includes the collections of the following five libraries for the blind:
– l’Association pour le Bien des Aveugles et malvoyants (Switzerland);
– l’Association Valentin Haüy (France);
– Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (Canada);
– The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (Canada);
– The Centre for Equitable Library Access (Canada).
Until now, more than 610,000 titles in 80 languages are available in the ABC catalog.
