EUIPO and EURid have launched .eu notification service

From 20th May 2019 the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and EURid (the registry manager of the .eu and .ею country code top-level domains) have launched .eu notification service in order to help the applicants of European Union trademarks (EUTM) tackle domain name applications in Europe that have been registered in bad faith as well as cybersquatting.

The service has been launched, because when the trademarks are published, third parties can take steps to register them as domain names, including with .еu and .ею. From 20th May 2019 the EUIPO and EURid have implemented the mentioned notification service which provides an opportunity to trademark applicants and rights holders to choose to receive alerts when identical to their application .eu and .ею domain name has been registered. Due to this notification, the applicants and rights holders are able to undertake the necessary actions much more quickly.
