World Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on 26 April. The aim of the event is to “raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life” and “to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe”. Various events are organized each year worldwide and each year a message or theme is associated with the event. This year the motto is “Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined“. The future of culture in the digital age will be explored.
The World Intellectual Property Day 2016 in Bulgaria will be celebrated with a national seminar on “Internet liberalization – challenges and good practices for intellectual property” organized by the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and the University Youth Academy of Knowledge Management. The event is included in the calendar of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
