In October 2019, we were contacted by a client who assigned us the registration of a combined trademark for goods that fall in classes 7 and 12 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services. Our client wants the trademark to have an effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, due to which the registration procedure will take place before the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. Before applying the trademark for registration, we explained to the client the stages of the registration procedure, as well as provided the client with an information brochure and an e-book, which contain useful information about the trademarks. We also conducted a trademark clearance search, which we always do before submitting the application for registration. After conducting the trademark clearance search, we provided the results of the search to the client and proceeded with applying the trademark for registration. After we filled in and submitted the application, we paid the first installment of the state fee. The application successfully passed the formal and substantive examination, after which it was published in the Bulletin of the Patent Office. No oppositions or objections were filed within the three-month period provided for in the Law on Trademarks and Geographical Indications and the trademark was registered in July 2020 after the payment of the second installment of the state fee, with which we successfully completed this project.
