At the end of 2018, we were contacted by a client to whom we have provided legal services. The client hired us to register a national wordmark that would have an effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. After we provided a brochure and an e-book containing useful information about trademarks, as always, we conducted a preliminary search in which we did not identify any risks. We, therefore, proceeded with filing the application for registration at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. The state fee was paid and the mark successfully passed the examination on absolute grounds for refusal and was published in the Official Bulletin of the Patent Office. No objections and oppositions were filed within the three-month period provided by the law. The second installment of the state fee was paid in due time and the mark was successfully registered. We received the issued registration certificate and provided it to the client, with which the registration process was successfully completed.
