In November 2018, a client contacted us and hired us to perform a preliminary trademark search of a word mark, which the client intends to register before the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria for services in Class 35 of the Nice classification. After the search we have conducted in the databases, it turned out that there are several identical marks that are registered for identical services and have effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria because the earlier trademarks are registered as European Union trademarks. We advised our client not to file the trademark for registration, because it is possible the proprietors of the earlier trademarks to file an opposition.
