In March 2017, a client – a real estate agent contacted us and asked us to file for registration a national trademark before the Patent Office. The provided by the client trademark is a combinative trademark, which contains a word and figurative element. In the first place, we have provided the client with a brochure that contains useful information about trademarks. We also conducted a preliminary search both on the word and figurative element and the results of it were summarized in a written analysis, which we sent to the client. The trademark is sufficiently distinctive and will pass the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal. Also, in the search, no similar earlier trademarks were found with no risk of opposition. We proceeded and filled in the trademark application and submitted it electronically. We paid the state fee for filing, examination, and publication of the application. The application passed the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal, as we estimated and no objections and oppositions were filed. We paid the second part of the state fee which is for registration and publication of the registered trademark and issuance of a registration certificate. Finally, we handled the registration certificate with which we successfully completed the registration procedure for a national trademark for services falling within Class 36 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services.
