In March 2018, a client contacted us and instructed us to register a European Union trademark. The trademark provided by the client is a combinative trademark consisting of a word and figurative element, in which case the word element is dominant and at the same time a distinctive element in the composition of the trademark.
We provided the client with a brochure containing useful information about trademarks, we explained that if there are no oppositions and objections the trademark would be successfully registered within four months of the filing for registration and then we proceeded with performing of a preliminary trademark search for the existence of similar/ identical earlier trademarks. The results of the search were described and presented in a detailed analysis after which we proceeded with the filing for registration of the trademark in Classes 7, 9, 10 and 11 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services. We filed the application and paid the state fees for four classes. The trademark successfully passed the expertise on absolute grounds of refusal and there were no oppositions or objections filed within the given period, therefore the trademark was successfully registered in July 2018. Finally, we handed the certificate for registration to the client, which is an official document.
