In October 2018 we were contacted by a client who assigned us to conduct a trademark search for two trademarks that he provided us for Class 5 of the International Classification of Goods and Services – food supplements. The search should be performed for the territory of all EU member states as the proposed trademark shall be registered as a European Union trademark. After our search, it turned out that one of the trademarks is not advisable to be developed because it violates earlier rights. The second trademark does not violate any earlier rights because no similar trademarks have been found. We described the results in analysis and advised the client to develop and file for registration the second-word trademark.
