In April 2017, a client that produces jewelry has contacted us, because the client has developed a new brand and hired us to conduct a preliminary trademark search. We have been provided a combinative trademark consisting of a figurative and a word element for which to make research whether it violates earlier trademark rights. The client intends to register the mark as a European Union trademark. After we conducted the trademark search, it was found that there is a similar earlier national mark with an effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria for similar and identical goods and services. We prepared a written report containing an analysis of the results of the performed trademark search and, in conclusion, we have advised the client not to develop this trademark.
