In September 2017, we were approached by a client who asked us to register a trademark that would have effect only on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria for goods in Class 30 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services for the purposes of registration of trademarks. Before we introduced the client to the registration process, we sent him a brochure containing questions and answers with useful information about the trademarks. We explained to the client that the sign he has provided will pass the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal. We asked him to provide us with a JPG logo of up to 1 MB, as we will file the trademark online using the electronic services of the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. We also conducted a preliminary search for the existence of similar trademarks. The search showed that there were no registered or filed for registration similar trademarks for similar goods and services and we continued with the trademark application. We filed the application, paid the state fees and informed the client of the progress of the registration procedure. No opposition was filed within the legally established three-month period and in August 2018 the trademark was successfully registered. Finally, we provided the client with the trademark registration certificate, which is an official document.
