In September 2016 a client, who is a producer of fruits and vegetables, hired us to prepare the necessary documents for successful registration of his trademark, which he has been using in his business activity from 2015. The goods that are being produced by him are from Classes 29 and 31 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services. The mentioned trademark, which was provided by the client, is a combinative trademark, in which the figurative element is dominant and distinctive. We consulted our client that before submitting the application for registration we should conduct a preliminary search of that trademark that is part of our trademark registration service. The results of the conducted search showed that there was no obstacle to the registration of that trademark, we reported the results of the search in written analysis and proceeded to file the application for registration of the trademark before the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (BPO). We advised our client that it is better for him to register a national trademark because he will use the trademark only on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. After that, we filed the trademark for registration and then paid the first installment of the state fee. Once the mentioned trademark passed the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal, the mark was published in the Bulletin of the Patent Office. There were no objections and oppositions filed in the three month period given by law, whereat we were informed that we should pay the second installment of the state fee. In July 2017 we finally managed to receive the registration certificate and provided it to the client. Of course, during the whole trademark registration process, we informed the client about everything he needed to know about the mentioned process and provided him with a brochure containing useful information about the trademarks.
