In early 2021, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) launched the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Fund, which managed to support nearly 13,000 micro, small or medium-sized enterprises based in an EU member state.
The grant was distributed in six separate time windows (the last one was in the period 01.10-31.10.2021) and covered 50% of the fees for applying for registration of a trademark or industrial design, as well as 75% of the costs related to pre-diagnosis of intellectual property (IP Scan service).
More than 21,000 trademarks and 5,000 industrial designs have been applied for registration under this support program. The leader in applications is Germany (1401), followed by Spain (1365), Poland (1348) and Italy (1295).
