The application for registration of a license of a European Union trademark shall be filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office by:
(a) the proprietor (s) of the European Union trademark; or
(b) the proprietor (s) of the European Union trademark, together with the licensee (s); or
c) the licensee (s).
In the event that registration of a license of an application for registration of a European Union trademark is filed, the application for registration of a license shall be filed in the first or second language of the trademark application. In the event that registration of a license of a European Union trademark is filed, the application for registration of a license of a European Union trademark shall be filed in one of the five languages of the European Union Intellectual Property Office, namely: English, French, German, Italian or Spanish. Applicants shall provide the documents proving the granting of the license. All documents proving the grant of the license may be submitted in the language of the Office which has become the language of the proceedings for registration of the license or in any official language of the European Union other than the language of the proceedings. Where the documents proving the grant of the license are provided in an official language of the European Union other than the language of the proceedings, the European Union Intellectual Property Office may request a translation into that language. Therefore, you are advised to submit the supporting documents in one of the five languages of the European Union intellectual property office (English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish).
Registration of the licensing of a European Union trademark
The European Union intellectual property office will enter the license in the EUTM Register and publish it in the EUTM Bulletin. The European Union intellectual property office notifies the applicant of the registration of the license.
