In January 2020, we were contacted by a client who assigned us the registration of a trademark for goods in classes 9 and 11 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services. Our client wants to use the trademark in several EU member states, which is why we advised him to register a European Union trademark. We provided the client with information about the registration procedure as well as an e-book that contains many useful articles about trademarks. We conducted a trademark clearance search in which we did not identify any risks of filing of oppositions or objections, as well as refusals on absolute grounds, which is why we applied the trademark for registration with the EU Intellectual Property Office and paid the state fee. The application was published in the bulletin of the Office, as it successfully passed the examination on the absolute grounds for refusal. No oppositions or objections were filed within the three-month period, which is why the mark was registered in May 2020. Finally, we provided the trademark registration certificate to our client, with which we successfully completed this project.
