In May 2019, a client – food producer contacted us and commissioned us to carry out a preliminary trademark search of two-word trademarks for goods in classes 5, 29 and 30. Our client intends to register the marks as European Union trademarks. After conducting the preliminary trademark search, we prepared legal opinions containing an analysis of the results of the searches conducted. It turned out that there was a risk of opposition, as for each of the marks we found that several similar earlier trademarks exist, which is why we advised our client not to file applications for registration of the trademarks.
