In October 2018, we were contacted by a client with whom we have been working on a number of projects on a regular basis over the past few years, and the latter assigned us the registration of a combined trademark. Our client wants the mark to have an effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and therefore the application should be filed at the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. The services provided by our client are classified in classes 35 and 42 of the Nice Classification of goods and services. We have provided the client with a brochure, as well as an e-book with published articles containing important information about the trademarks, as well as complete information on the registration procedure, and then we have carried out a detailed preliminary trademark search. After the preliminary search, we prepared a written legal opinion containing an analysis of the results of the search conducted. It turned out that the mark would pass the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal, and no earlier similar/identical marks were found, so we recommended the client to proceed with filing an application for registration at the Patent Office. The client has authorized us to represent in the registration process, then we filled the application for registration, submitted it electronically and paid the state fees. The mark successfully passed the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal and was published in the bulletin, and no objections and oppositions were filed within three month period. Finally, we paid the second installment of the state fee, and after about one week the mark was successfully registered (in April 2019), with which we successfully completed this project.
