In March 2017, we were contacted by a client who provided us with a combinative trademark to be applied for registration before the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria for the production of clothing and accessories. We conducted a preliminary trademark search on both the word and figurative element. We described the results of the preliminary trademark search in a written analysis according to which no similar trademarks were found and we also foresaw that the trademark is distinctive and will pass the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal. We have selected the goods for which the trademark shall be registered and proceeded with the filing of the application before the Patent Office. We paid the state fee and after a few months the trademark successfully passed the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal and was published in the Bulletin, from which moment starts the three month period for submission of objections and oppositions. After the expiration of the period, we paid the second part of the state fee and the trademark was successfully registered in January 2018. Finally, we handed to the client the registration certificate for a national combinative trademark.
