In May 2017, we were contacted by a client who instructed us to perform a preliminary trademark search for a combinative trademark to check whether earlier rights have been violated before the filing of the application for registration of the mark at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante (Spain). We conducted the trademark search in the databases and it was found that at the time of the search no similar trademarks have been filed for registration or have been registered for similar goods. We drafted a written statement containing the results from the search and provided it to the client. The client has instructed us to prepare the necessary documents to start the trademark registration process of the European Union trademark. We have chosen the goods in Classes 5, 29 and 30 of the Nice Classification of Goods and Services for which the trademark will be filed for registration, fill in the application form for registration of the trademark and paid the state fee. No oppositions and objections were filed against the trademark application and the mark was successfully registered. We have provided the certificate for registration of the trademark to the client as well as other materials that we have drafted and that contain useful information about trademarks.
