In May 2017, a client who had created two combinative trademarks consisting of a word and figurative element asked us to initiate a preliminary trademark search to determine whether there are registered or filed for registration similar earlier marks with effect on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria for goods in Class 29 of the Nice Classification of goods and services, namely: meat, meat products, milk, and dairy products. We conducted the search in the public databases containing registered and filed for registered trademarks and found that there are no registered or filed for registration similar trademarks for similar goods. We have also informed the client that both trademarks will pass the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal and will be published in the official bulletin. We drafted a written report with the results of the preliminary trademark search. We have provided a brochure prepared by us that contains useful information about trademarks and in October 2017 the client instructed us to file an application for registration of the two trademarks at the Patent Office of Republic of Bulgaria. We have drafted a power of attorney, filed the applications for registration of the two trademarks and paid the state fees. As we properly consulted the client, the marks successfully passed the expertise on absolute grounds for refusal and were published in the official bulletin. No oppositions were filed, and after about a month (in April 2018), the two trademarks were successfully registered. At present, our client is successfully developing and using the two trademarks on the market.
